Dugald River mine is one of the world’s top 10 Zinc mine operations, which has been producing zinc concentrate for customers around the world since 2017.
The mine is committed to a low-carbon future. In April 2023 the Dugald River Solar Farm began operations, supplying a third of the mine’s power, and reducing emissions by 33% and this is just the start of its renewable energy transition.
Dugald River employs around 750 employees and contractors on a mix of fly-in, fly-out and local residential basis. The village provides all the amenities including a gym, with a women’s only area, a tennis court, swimming pool, walking track and entertainment area.
Environment Superintendent
Reporting into the SHEC Manager, as the Environmental Superintendent you will implement innovative reclamation strategies, minimise our ecological footprint, and build strong community partnerships to drive a sustainable environment.
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental management, planning, engineering, or a related field and/or relevant industry experience, plus several years on a metalliferous mine site.
- Strong foundational understanding of environment management with an exceptional understanding of environmental legislation.
- Experience leading a team, managing contractors, and influencing leaders to drive effective controls to ensure adherence legislation and company requirements.
- Demonstrated ability and understanding of the Environmental Management System, including development, implementation, improvements, and auditing.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Compliance management, environmental monitoring, statutory reporting ensuring all activities meet required timeframes and regulatory obligations.
- Lead, mentor and develop a strong team of environmental professionals, inspiring them to act with innovation and achieve high performance with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate environmental risks; proactively implementing sustainable controls.
- Engage and oversee all environmental contract and contractor management ensuring alignment with all compliance requirements.
