About MMG Rosebery
MMG Rosebery is an underground polymetallic base metal mine located in the township of Rosebery in Tasmania, Australia.
The Mine has been at the heart of the Rosebery community since 1936 and is one of Tasmania’s largest and oldest continuously operating, underground mines producing zinc, copper and lead concentrates, as well as gold ore.
It supports approximately 500 workers and their families, has a strong community focus and engages a wide range of local businesses from across Tasmania in its supply chain, boosting the economy of the west coast of Tasmania and beyond.
Rosebery offers exceptional outdoor experiences with fishing, canoeing, white water rafting, rock climbing and walking at your doorstep and the MMG office in Burnie, gives employees the flexibility to work from there when they are not required onsite.
Project Geologist
Reporting to the Senior Exploration Geologist, you will continue to develop the geological understanding of the Rosebery ore system and apply this knowledge to improve resource portfolio. You will identify and execute business improvement opportunities, manage drill programs, drive geological modelling and maintain a safe working culture. You will be a part of the team responsible for developing future resources of the Rosebery operation.
Responsibilities of the role will include;
- Identify and implement business improvement opportunities.
- Participate in and develop orebody knowledge research projects.
- Generate lithological, mineralisation and structural models to be delivered to the Resource Geology team for JORC compliant resource estimation and mining.
- Conduct mapping and robust core logging for geological interpretation.
- Responsible for performance and review of QAQC protocols.
- Review and ensure consistent geological data interpretation.
- Manage the design, scheduling, execution and supervision of all drilling activities.
- Monitor and report progress of drilling with strong communication, reporting and presentation skills.
- Collaborate with other team members to support and meet the geology departments assigned targets.
Qualifications Skills and Competencies;
- 3 + years professional experience in exploration/mine geology
- Exposure to VHMS or base metal deposits
- Extensive management of drilling programs
- Exposure to Government approvals and environmental requirements for drilling
- Supervision and mentoring of team members and contractors
